The Masterplan

Your idea mapped into phases with real deadlines and proof bars.

The Masterplan is the execution plan Grillr builds for your specific idea. It's not a template: two founders with the same idea get different plans, because they have different hours, budgets, skills, and starting points. Its job is to take you from a rough idea to a launched, validated business in roughly 60–90 days.

Phases with real deadlines

Every phase title is an action, never a topic — “Launch the waitlist”, “Ship the MVP” — and every phase carries an actual calendar date derived from your weekly hours and the size of the work. The first phase lands within a week or two; the final one sits roughly 60–90 days out.

Each phase description ends with a “Done when” line: exactly what has to exist for the phase to count as finished. Not effort — artifacts.

Phase 2 is always Validation

One phase is locked into every Masterplan: Phase 2 is always titled Validation, and it always opens with market research Grillr runs for you — is the demand real, who exactly is the customer, where do they hang out. Then the real test ships, with a hard floor depending on what you're building:

  • Software or an app — a live waitlist plus posts in the niche subreddits where your users actually are, with a minimum signal count.
  • A physical product — short-form videos in front of the real audience, with view, save, DM, or pre-order thresholds.
  • Content or an audience — five published pieces in fourteen days on one platform, with a platform-specific signal bar.
  • A service or agency — real outreach, booked calls, and one paid pilot. Real money; free pilots don't count.

No busywork survives

Classic startup homework is banned from the plan — competitor research documents, business plan drafts, brand kits, persona worksheets. Each one gets converted into a shipping action instead. The test applied to every phase: would a tired founder actually open a laptop on a Saturday morning and start this?

It adapts to your stage

Already built something that never got traction? The plan skips the build phase and goes straight at validation and distribution. Launched with users? It becomes a growth plan focused on the one channel that works.
